“Receiving the inaugural Kevin Bushell Memorial Scholarship has meant a lot to me. It is the first thing I think about before walking into each class and the last thing I think about when I finished my last homework assignment for the day. The reason for this is because I like to take a few moments and reflect if I am truly embracing the Navy’s core values of Honor,Courage, and Commitment. Looking back during my freshman year, I can truly say that I wasn’t perfect, but I did my 100% each and every day to embrace those values. The scholarship has also been a motivator for me. It drives me to pay attention to the small details in an essay or a lecture, It influences me to help others students who need more explanation on a topic, and most importantly, it helps motivate me to be the best version of myself. I want to thank the entire Bushell Family for all they have done not only for me, but the Gaithersburg Community. This has been an honor, and I will continue with this motivation all the way through my journey in college and beyond.”
